While the rest of the world was moving from CDs to digital downloads, Columbia, SC's Toro Y Moi (Chaz Bundick) was releasing his bedroom music - and the music of friends - on cassette tapes. Be it plastic and antiquated, this has been a key to Bundick's gradual success, which will soon culminate in the release of his debut long-player, Causers of This, on Car Park Records. Melding R&B, lounge and electronica into an aesthetically adventurous amalgam, Toro Y Moi is stepping from cassettes into the future, without missing a beat.
