Thrill Jockey Digs in with Liturgy

Thrill Jockey Records is destined to seep into every nook and cranny of the music world. From the Appalachian string jaunts of Black Twig Pickers to the Kenyan benga grooves of Extra Golden, the Chicago-based label digs deeper by the minute, expanding its presence and crossing genres without breaking a sweat. And true to its nature, the label is celebrating its newest signing: Brooklyn's black metal aces, Liturgy.

Heaving and dark, Liturgy birthed a ball of fire with 2009's Renihilation, and the quartet promises much of the same with sessions currently underway for a new release on Thrill Jockey in 2011. Check out "Ecstatic Rite" from Renihilation, and hold onto your headphones for what's ahead
