What do you get when you take Matthew Houck out of Phosphorescent? Virgin Forest, of course. Formed in 2007, Virgin Forest is Scott Stapleton, Jeff Bailey, Jesse Ainslie, and Chris "showtime" Marine, who all currently serve as Houck's backers in Phosphorescent, and are joined by Elizabeth Barfield. The group retreated to Brooklyn's famed Headgear Studios where they pounded out the 10 songs on their debut LP, Joy Atrophy, in a mere three days.
Heart Break Beat Records will release Joy Atrophy on vinyl with a digital download on December 21, 2010, but you can check out the first single, "That's Alright," below.
